I mostly work with wood and stone, often in combination with (rusted) metal. During the realisation of the work of art, I try to maintain the original shapes of the materials as much as possible. I believe stone and wood to be powerful and beautiful enough on their own, especially because of their shape.

My sculptures are mostly faces or parts of the human body, sometimes more realisticly and sometimes with more or less abstract forms. The starting point for creating my sculptures is nearly always the theme: "what makes humans the way they are?"

My inspiration comes from the media or society; events can touch me, in a negative aswell as a postive way. Next to this I am inspired by other artist like Antoni Tapiés, Ossip (Dutch artist from The Hague), Marlene Dumas, George Baselitz and Magdalena Abakanowicz.
